Our Baby Einstein

We ran into Jack's mentor. When his mom and dad just don't cut it when it comes to genius, he will always have Albert Einstein to look to.
Of course, this is something to aspire to. But who knows, maybe Albert Einstein chewed on his toes when he was a baby too. :)

"Da Da"

The time has come, Jack is saying his first word and it is not "ma ma," although I am the one who feeds him, and changes his diaper, and takes him everywhere I go, but "da da" is the word.
He rarely says it when he is looking right at Dan, but it is still awfully cute.

Maybe because we have done so many great things with Dad this past week.

We watched Dad's frisbee game

A concert in the park (with friends)

Just hanging out at home, in Dad's play room (family room)
At our friend's birthday partyHe was a little under the weather at the birthday party, still recovering from his 6 months shots!
And for exciting news... 19 lb, 2.5 oz 27 1/8 inches long and still a big head. :) He is happy and healthy, and should be getting teeth soon!

Things are looking up...

There's an old song from the Musical "Crazy for you," Well, I've got it in my head...

Things are looking up

I've been looking the landscape over

And it's covered with 4 leaf clover

Oh things are looking up

Since love looked up at me.

This post has nothing to do with love, but I seem to be singing the song because I have been dealing with a lot of CRAP lately. I am just exhausted from dealing with stupid people, taking care of odds and ends that seem so unnecessary and out of my control, and not my fault (REALLY, not my fault!)

The little car accident I was in a couple weeks ago, that was not my fault and I could not prevent (besides not being there, stopped at a red light) is finally figuring some little things out. After dealing with the dad of the boy, they finally decided that they would go through insurance.
I got the police report FINALLY last Friday, after an error on the officer's part, and it was completely inaccurate and the "child" got 0 tickets!!! The officer is out of town til next Monday, so he will be glad to hear from me Monday morning, 8 AM.

BUT for the good news: The insurance company is finally letting us file a claim (one thing off my list) and they are giving me a random $150 for my whiplash injury (which is minor and a doctor friend said would probably go away within 6 weeks so I don't really plan to go to the dr.) Now, this $ will cover a copay/visit if I choose to go, plus if something is really wrong they will still pay for it. If I don't go to the Dr. it is just an extra $150 for my "pain and suffering" I guess. PLUS, I'm going to get a new carseat out of the deal.

I'm sure you don't really care about all of the other jazz I have to deal with in addition to going to work, taking care of a baby, and all of the regular routine things, but I am feeling much better after a day of play!

We went swimming with some friends, and there was a 6 inch kiddie pool. We just sat and played for a long while, Jack was even a little raisiny. :)
Thank goodness for great weather, and wonderful friends!

(And when we came home we had a new musical star for Jack's playmat, in the mail, and a hand-delivered invitation to a very special birthday party next weekend! Sorry we were gone, I would have loved to hang out/chat with that friend as well!)

The busy life of Jack...

We have been awfully busy at our house! Dad (Dan) celebrated a birthday last Thursday, and we celebrated with SWORDFISH. It was delicious!

I gave dad some Swedish fish to share with me, and Mom gave him a game he wanted and a book (kind of lame) but something more is on the way. :)

Friday I was lucky enough to meet my friend Jackson from Arizona (Brittany's baby). He is 10 days older than me. You should see him play on his belly, he is a PRO! One day I will hopefully be just like him! We even had our first lesson in sharing toys.

Saturday, we went to a baby shower for yet another friend of mine. His name will be Parker Diego. Mom had her playdate with her friends, and I had mine with Jackson and Hudson. Boy, I am sure lucky to have so many friends! Mom is lucky to have great friends too!
And finally, Sunday came. Papa and Grandma returned from Utah, and Auntie Marcia too! (She tells me that she is no longer in the running as "favorite aunt" with my cousins, so she can be my favorite aunt. We shall see...) We just are so excited she is home! We missed her!

Just like we miss the rest of our family that is far away!

After a long day...

running into the grocery store seems like a nightmare.

Somehow Jack always seems to make it all worthwhile.

Welcome to the world of...

TEETHING!
Jack has been a little fussy the last couple days, especially when it comes to sleeping. Even our WONDERFUL bedtime routine has been interrupted by alittle whining and crying. We had it so good...
But he has been doing the same at daycare, plus playing with his Left Ear. Just to be sure, we went in to see Dr. Dan and he said his gums are swollen and he will probably cut some teeth in the next couple of weeks. Well, wonderful.
We've still got it good. It could (and probably will) get much worse. :)

******************

Other exciting news: We went to Nauvoo for the weekend! The weather was surprisingly mild and we had a great, relaxing time. Grandma and Grandpa came with us (or we went with them) and took Jack for the 7-9 AM shift so I could sleep in with Dan the Man! It was great!

We saw the outdoor pageant, went to dinner at the smorgasboard (Jack sat maybe 5 minutes in a big kid booster chair, with the help of the diaper bag), and hung with some old friends from when my family was in the City of Joseph Pageant.

And as an added bonus... Scott & Michelle are moving to Chicago this fall! They were in town house hunting so we took a small detour to have breakfast on our way there, and lunch on our way back. We can't wait for Jack's cousins to live SO CLOSE!
